Toyota Hilux Temporarily Unavailable For Bookings

Latest Update: Toyota has finally launched the Hilux pickup truck in India. Click here for details.

Bookings for the Toyota Hilux invincible pickup truck have been temporarily suspended as the Japanese automaker is unable to meet its high demand. Its pre-launch reservations were opened on January 20 for a token amount of up to Rs 1 lakh. The prices of the Hilux will be announced in next month.

In its official statement, Toyota has said that: –

“The iconic Hilux has been recently launched in the Indian market to cater to the needs of customers seeking an incredible lifestyle utility vehicle. We are delighted with the overwhelming response that the Hilux has received from our customers within a fortnight of its launch. We are grateful to our valued customers for their continued trust and confidence in our brand and our enhanced offerings in this whole new product segment. However, in light of various factors impacting our supply, we are unable to meet the heightened demand. Thus, we deeply regret our temporary halt of bookings for the Hilux with a view to avoid any further inconvenience to our customers. We will continue our best efforts to resume the Hilux bookings at the soonest possible opportunity, with our aim to provide the best customer experience.”

While Toyota claims that it is due to the high demand for Hilux, the actual reason could be related to its global supply issue, which had also recently impacted the brand’s production in Japan.

For those who aren’t aware, Toyota will be bringing the Hilux to our shores as a semi-knocked down unit. It will be locally assembled in Karnataka and will share lots of parts and features with the Fortuner SUV such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a multi-info colored display, dual-zone automatic climate control, a powered driver’s seat, cruise control, up to 6-airbags, and much more. Toyota is also offering a host of accessories with the Hilux.

Powering the lifestyle pickup is a 2.8-liter diesel engine (204PS/up to 500Nm), mated to either a 6-speed manual (420Nm peak torque) or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It gets an all-wheel drivetrain as standard, along with an auto limited-slip differential, active traction control, electronic differential lock, a tire angle monitor, and hill assist/descent control.
