Tata Motors is all set to launch the facelifted Tigor (Aeris) tomorrow. But ahead of its official debut, undisguised images of the upcoming sedan have surfaced online, revealing its exterior and interior design in full. So, here’s a closer look at the Tata Aeris for buyers’ considering the upcoming sedan.
Tata Aeris – Exterior Design
Revealed through leaked images and earlier teasers, the Aeris features a Tiago-like black bar across the grille, flanked by sweptback LED headlamps with a sleek LED DRL at their top. However, the bumper is differently designed from its hatch version, featuring pronounced C-shaped corners and redesigned central air intakes.
From the sides, it retains the notchback-style tapering roofline of the outgoing model. However, it gets a new alloy design, along with ‘Aeris’ lettering on the front doors.
The rear features a connected LED tail lamp setup with the ‘Tata’ logo in the middle, as seen on the Tiago. It also gets an all-new bumper with C-shaped corners and integrated static reflectors. However, bits like a sharkfin antenna, roof spoiler with an integrated stop light, and the sculpted bootlid have been carried forward from the Tigor.
Tata Aeris – Interior Design
The dashboard design of the Aeris will be identical to that of the Tata Tiago, featuring a layered layout with a soft-fabric finish and two freestanding screens for infotainment and the instrument cluster.
Regarding features, it will also get new amenities like dual wireless charging pods and a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring.
Other key amenities will include automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, steering-mounted controls, height-adjustable driver’s seat, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, auto AC, rear AC vents, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, 6 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill assist and much more.
Tata Aeris Powertrain Option
The Aeris will retain the Tigor’s powertrain options, which include a 1.2-litre petrol, with an optional factory-fitted dual-cylinder CNG kit. Both of these powertrain choices come with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.
Similar to the Tigor, an all-electric version of the Aeris will also be introduced, probably with the current model’s 26kWh battery pack.
Price and Rivals
Prices of the new Aeris will surely command a significant premium over the existing Tata Tigor. For reference, the ICE-powered Tigor currently ranges from Rs 5.55 lakh to Rs 8.84 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Tigor EV is priced between Rs 12.49-13.75 lakh (both ex-showroom prices).
Expect Tata to also introduce a battery-as-a-subscription (BaaS) model for the Aeris EV to lower the overall upfront cost.
Once launched, the Tata Aeris will lock horns with the Hyundai Aura, Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze.
