Electrified Mahindra XUV300 Will Be Longer Than Its ICE Version; Launch Likely In Q1 of 2023

  • Mahindra XUV300 electric is likely to be launched in early 2023.
  • Likely to be christened as XUV400.
  • Expected to come with two battery pack options.
  • Will lock horns with the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming MG’s compact electric SUV.

Mahindra and Mahindra, in a recent media conference, revealed that it will launch the electric XUV300 in the first quarter of 2023. The automaker has also announced that it will be 4.2 meters long, approximately 200mm bigger than its ICE counterpart. Hence, expect it to offer better cabin and boot space than its standard model. And as we have reported earlier, the brand is likely to use the XUV400 moniker for the electrified SUV.

While technical details of the XUV300 Electric aka XUV400 are still under the wraps, it is likely to be available with two advanced high-density Lithium-ion NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) battery pack options developed by LG Chem Ltd, which are said to have a slightly longer overall lifespan and a significantly higher number of charge-discharge cycles when compared to the standard battery packs. The electrified SUV will likely come with a single motor placed on the front axle.

Design-wise, the overall profile of the XUV400 will look largely similar to the XUV300. However, it is expected to get some EV-specific styling elements such as a closed-off grille, a redesigned lighting system, and new bumpers & alloy wheels. It could also sport plenty of blue highlights to indicate its electrified nature.

Inside, the XUV400 could feature a redesigned dashboard layout with a larger infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, updated connected car tech, and probably Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Once launched, it will go up against the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming MG’s compact electric SUV.

In other developments, Mahindra is set to unveil three new electric concept SUVs in July 2022 called the “Born EVs“. But before that, it will launch the much-awaited all-new Scorpio N in the Indian market on June 27.
