Yamaha MT-15 Engine and Other Specifications

The bikemaker hasn’t made any changes underneath the skin. Having said that, the MT-15 continues to be powered by the same 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 18.4PS of max power and 14.1Nm of peak torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox assisted by a slipper clutch.

The underpinnings of the bike also remain unchanged. It retains the same golden coloured inverted fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock. It rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres.

Author’s Take

The Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 is currently the only bike in its segment with a liquid-cooled engine. While it had started to look a bit outdated, these changes bring it back into the spotlight. However, it won’t be alone for long — KTM is working on the new 160 Duke and RC160. Nevertheless, with these updates, Yamaha’s sales are expected to increase in August 2025.
