Bajaj Pulsar N160 S, N160 SS Launched With New Engine and Features

Bajaj Auto has expanded the Pulsar N160 range with the introduction of two new variants named N160 S and N160 SS, priced at Rs 1.34 lakh and Rs 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom). They will be offered alongside the standard N160 2V variants, which cost between Rs 1,16,142 and Rs 1,28,296 (ex-showroom).

Bajaj Pulsar N160 S, N160 SS: What’s new?

Both the new Pulsar N160 S and N160 SS get a new 164.5cc, 4-valve, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine producing 18.5PS at 9500rpm and 14.5Nm at 8,000. Compared to the outgoing 2-valve engine, it produces 2.5 PS more power; however, torque has been marginally reduced by 0.25 Nm. It also uses an electronic throttle body with ride-by-wire technology for smoother throttle response, replacing the mechanical unit. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed unit, with 0 to 60 kmph in 4.5 seconds.

The electronic throttle also enabled four riding modes: Rain, Road, Sport and Off-Road. Similar to KTM bikes, it now also receives Crawl Technology, which allows the motorcycle to run at low speed in higher gears with minimal clutch input. The top-spec N160 SS also gets a traction control system, a 5-inch TFT display with Google Maps mirroring, Bluetooth plus Wi-Fi connectivity, and adjustable levers.

Other mechanical changes include 37mm USD forks (replacing the previous 33mm units) and a larger 300mm front disc.

Speaking of the dimensions, the bikes have a 1,348mm wheelbase, 165mm ground clearance, 795mm seat height and a 14-litre fuel tank.

Bajaj offers the bikes in three new colours: Atlantic Blue, Pearl Metallic White, and Brooklyn Black, each paired with unique coloured rims.

In the 160cc segment, the Pulsar N160 locks horns with the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Hero Xtreme 160R.
