Ather Energy has confirmed that its upcoming electric scooter will be launched on August 29 at Ather Community Day. It will be based on the EL01 concept and will be called “Konarc”. It is expected to be the brand’s most affordable electric scooter, which is likely to be positioned below the 450 lineup. The brand already commenced its production last month.
An All-New Platform
For those unaware, the EL platform was first revealed at last year’s Ather Community Day. It has been developed using 26 lakh km of field data. It can be used to underpin multiple scooters across different sizes, body styles and battery packs ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh, allowing the brand to introduce multiple variants in the future.

Design Details and Expected Features
While Ather hasn’t shared many details about the upcoming scooter, its latest teaser confirms that it will retain almost the same design as its concept model. The key visible traits include a handlebar-mounted headlamp, a wide LED DRL on the front apron, 14-inch front & 12-inch rear wheels, and a metal body, probably the first Ather scooter using metal body panels.
Even though it will be the brand’s most affordable electric scooter, it is likely to be equipped with a long list of features, including a TFT cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation support, voice commands, pothole alerts, crash detection, hill hold, multiple riding modes, reverse assist, and Ather’s Advanced Electrical Braking System (AEBS), which combines regenerative and mechanical braking to improve stopping performance and recovering more energy during braking.
As revealed last year, the Konarc is likely to have longer service intervals of up to 10,000 km, compared to the industry norm of around 5,000 km. It could also feature a new Ather Charge-Drive Controller (ACDC) charging system with an onboard charger, allowing riders to simply plug the scooter directly into a standard 3-pin household socket.
