Ather Rolls Out Infinite Cruise For Apex 450, EL01 and Redux Concept Scooters, and Ather Stack 7 Updates

Ather Energy has rolled out a segment-first feature called Infinite Cruise on its flagship 450 Apex scooter, combining cruise control, hill control, and crawl mode into one smart package. The brand has also introduced the EL01 concept model, based on its all-new EL platform.

Ather Infinite Cruise

What makes it unique is its city-friendly usability. The cruise control can be activated at speeds as low as 10 kmph, making it ideal for urban stop-go traffic. With just a single tap on the button, the feature locks the scooter at the throttle-released speed. Unlike conventional systems that disengage on braking, Ather’s cruise only pauses when brakes are applied and reactivates automatically as soon as the rider accelerates again. During our test ride, this setup proved particularly useful in easing city commutes, reducing wrist fatigue and offering smoother control in traffic.

The existing owners of the MY25 Ather 450 Apex equipped with a traction control system will also benefit from the Infinite Cruise feature via the OTA update.

Ather EL01

Alongside this, the company also showcased a new concept vehicle – the Ather EL01, the first product preview from its upcoming scalable EL platform. The modular unibody steel platform can support multiple body styles, ranging from sporty scooters to maxi-scooters and family commuters, with varied wheelbases and underpinning configurations. The platform also supports various battery configurations from 2 kWh to 5 kWh and will feature an Advanced Electronic Braking System, which is actually a more sophisticated version of CBS.

The EL platform promises longer service intervals of up to 10,000 km (compared to the industry norm of around 5,000 km) and a 15% reduction in assembly time. It also introduces a new Ather Charge-Drive Controller (ACDC) charging system with an onboard charger, allowing riders to simply plug the scooter directly into a standard 3-pin household socket.

While the EL platform underpins Ather’s next generation of products, the company confirmed that its existing scooters will continue to be based on the current platform.

Ather confirmed that the first production model based on the EL platform will arrive during the festive season next year, marking the next big step in the company’s product roadmap. The product based on the EL platform will be manufactured at the brand’s new facility coming in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad) in Maharashtra.

Ather Redux

Ather has also unveiled its futuristic, performance-focused electric scooter concept called the “Redux”. Built on a lightweight aluminum frame, the Redux concept is designed with adaptive architecture capable of responding to rider’s intent. The scooter is engineered to interpret rider intent through posture and weight distribution, dynamically adjusting its geometry and suspension setup in real time. For instance, when the rider leans forward—typically an indicator of aggressive riding intent—the system automatically alters parameters to enhance performance and stability, thereby delivering a more engaging and intuitive riding experience.

Ather Stack 7.0

Ather Energy has also taken this opportunity to introduce the new Athe Stack 7.0 software update for its electric scooters, offering new state-of-the-art features for a smoother and more engaging user experience. These include: –

  • Voice command integration
  • AI assistance
  • Enhanced navigation with pothole alert and smoother road suggestions
  • Crash alerts (notifying emergency contacts in case of a crash)
  • ParkSafe alert to prevent the vehicle getting being towed
  • Anti-theft alert with remote immobilise vehicle function (LockSafe)
  • Remote Control function to remotely stop the vehicle charging or shut down the vehicle
  • Cricket score on the dashboard

Prices Slashed For Ather Halo Helmet

Addressing the buyers’ feedback, Ather has also reduced the prices of its Bluetooth-enabled Halo smart helmet range, making them now priced between Rs 2,999 and Rs 4,999. New colour options have also been introduced for them.
