Volkswagen Golf GTI Pre-Launch Booking Window Now Closed

Volkswagen is all set to launch the Golf GTI in India in the coming weeks, bookings for which started on May 5, 2025. Now, the carmaker has closed the pre-launch booking window of this upcoming hot hatch as all the allocated units have been reserved.

Currently, it is unclear if the German carmaker plans to bring more units of the Golf GTI to the country. However, given the strong interest from enthusiasts, we believe the company might consider bringing more units to our shores. For those unaware, Volkswagen did something similar with the T-Roc, which was launched in March 2020. First, they brought 2500 units to India, and all of them sold out quickly. Later in 2021, the company brought another batch to meet its strong demand.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI boasts a design that balances sportiness with timeless sophistication. It boasts a sharp, aerodynamic silhouette with signature elements like the red stripe above the width-spanning LED light bar and the GTI badge on the grille instantly signals its hot-hatch pedigree. Furthermore, its sleek LED headlamps and a low, wide stance enhance its athletic presence. Towards the rear, the dual exhaust tips and a subtle spoiler complete the aggressive yet refined appearance.

The sportiness continuous inside the cabin as well. It gets a layered dashboard layout, donned in an all-black theme, highlighted with red stitching on the steering and setas. It also gets sport seats in front with Tartan upholstery. Furthermore, it gets a feature-rich cabin, with key amenities like a 12.9-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 7-speaker sound system, 30 colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, tri-zone climate control, a wireless smartphone charger, heated front seats, and even a Chatgpt AI assistant.

For safety, it gets seven airbags, electronic stability control, front & rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and a level-2 ADAS suite, comprising driver assist features like travel assist, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), active blind spot monitor, rear traffic alert, emergency assist, lane assist and much more.

Volkswagen Golf GTI bookings

At the heart of the Golf GTI is a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 265 PS of max power and 350 Nm of peak torque, letting the hot hatch to do the 0 to 100 kmph sprint in merely 5.9 seconds. The drive is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).

We expect the VW Golf GTI will be priced at between Rs 45-50 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it against the Mini Cooper S.
