Skoda-Volkswagen Issue Another Recall Over Seatbelt Flaw In Multiple Models

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Limited (SAVWIPL) has announced another recall for seat belt-related issues this year, affecting the Skoda Kylaq, Slavia, Kushaq, Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun. A total of 1821 units of these German cars are affected, and they were manufactured between December 2021 and May 2025.

Earlier in May 2025, 47,235 units of these models were recalled for the same issue, indicating a recurring quality concern with the seatbelt system used in these models.

Identified Issues: –

  • Rear seatbelt assembly (left/right side) may have a crack in the metal base frame.
  • Incorrect part installation in the front & rear seatbelt assemblies.

According to the data listed on the SIAM’s website, this concern was identified during the ongoing quality inspection for these models.

In total, 860 units of the Skoda Kushaq, Kylaq and Slavia, and 961 units of the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus have been affected by the recall. Imported models like Volkswagen Golf GTI and Tiguan R Line are unaffected by the recall.

The German manufacturer has assured that customers with affected vehicles will be contacted directly, and the inspection and necessary part replacement will be carried out free of cost. Meanwhile, owners can also log on to the Skoda India recall and Volkswagen India recall micro sites, and enter their 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to check if their cars have been affected.
