Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 Launched In India

Royal Enfield has finally forayed into India’s electric segment with the launch of the highly anticipated Flying Flea C6 electric bike priced at Rs 2.79 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). It will also be offered with Battery as a Service (Baas), which lowers the upfront price to Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai).

Flying Flea C6: Compact and Premium

Inspired by a World War 2-era lightweight Royal Enfield bike that was literally airdropped in battle zones, it carries forward the same lightweight & agile philosophy, along with retro charm and a modern twist. That said, the brand has deliberately made the bike as light & skinny as possible to keep the rolling resistance low, which will help the bike clock more kilometres on a single charge.

It uses a forged aluminium body, which helps the bike weighs just 124kg. For reference, the Hero Splendor 110 has a kerb weight of 114kg. The other numbers that matter are as follows: –

  • Length: 2089mm
  • Width: 831mm (with mirrors)
  • Height: 1122mm (without mirrors)
  • Seat height: 823mm
  • Wheelbase: 1366mm
  • Ground clearance: 207mm
  • Carrying Capacity: 160kg
  • Wheel size: 19-inch at both ends shod with 90/90 tubeless tyres
  • Brake Size: 260mm disc (front) and 220mm disc (rear)

For suspension duties, the bike comes equipped with girder linkage type hydraulic twin suspension at the front and monoshock at the rear.

Colour Options

The Flying Flea C6 is available in two shades: Storm Black and Flea Green.

Flying Flea C6 specs and range

Flying Flea C6: Battery, Range and Peformance

  • The Flying Flea C6 draws its power from a 3.91kWh battery pack, paired with a 15.4kW PMS motor making 60Nm of peak torque.
  • The motor powers the rear wheel of the motorcycle via a belt drive, which enables it to complete the 0-60 kmph sprint in just 3.7 seconds before attaining a top speed of 115kph (claimed).
  • Both the motor housing and battery casing are integrated into a single unit, while the battery’s ‘fins’ are made of magnesium alloy to keep the weight in check.
  • It offers a claimed range of 154km on a single charge.

Flying Flea C6: Charging Time

  • The C6 gets an onboard charger which takes roughly 2 hrs 16 min to fully juice up its battery pack.
  • A 20-80% top-up will take roughly 1 hour and 5 minutes.

Verdict

With the Flying Flea C6, Royal Enfield isn’t trying to cater to the mass market. It is clearly a premium, lifestyle electric motorcycle, aimed at a niche set of buyers who value design, exclusivity and brand legacy.
