Simple Energy Electric Scooter Booking Dates, Specifications And Other Details Revealed

Bengaluru-based EV startup Simple Energy will launch its first electric scooter called the 'Simple One', on 15th August 2021, the same day on which Ola Electric will also bring its first scooter in the Indian market. Bookings for the Simple One will also start on the same day of its launch.

The Simple One e-scooter will be powered by a 4.8kWh lithium-ion battery that will offer a claimed range of 240km in Eco mode. It can sprint from 0-50kmph in just 3.6 seconds before attaining a top speed of 100kmph. Its battery is likely to be detachable unit. That means one can take it out to charge it anywhere. It will also enable the user to avail benefits of swappable battery services when making long journeys.  

On the features front, Simple Energy has equipped the One electric scooter with an LED headlight, triangular LED DRL, LED taillamps, multiple riding modes, and a touchscreen instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and on-board navigation.

Following the launch in its home city Bengaluru, the Simple One will be available in Chennai and Hyderabad. Moreover, it will also be available in other cities of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kerala, Telangana, Punjab, and Gujarat in the initial phases. 

It will be manufactured at the brand's Hosur-based facility in Tamil Nadu that will be spread across 2 lakh square feet in its first phase. The EV maker strives to manufacture 10 lakh units per year and eyes investment of Rs 350 crore over the next couple of years. The new company will help in generating roughly 1000 new jobs too.

In our opinion, the Simple Energy will price the e-scooter between Rs 1.10 lakh to Rs 1.20 lakh and the various incentives offered by central & state governments will make it more affordable for buyers. Once launched, it will rival the Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube Electric, and the upcoming Ola Scooter
