Mahindra has plans to launch nine new SUVs by 2027, including the XUV700 monocoque SUV that is expected to reach showrooms by August 2021. The brand has recently released its first official teaser video, revealing 'Auto Booster Headlamps’ – one of the segment-leading features that will be a part of XUV700's impressive technological set.
The teaser video shows that the Auto Booster headlamps sense the environmental lighting conditions and vehicle speed. And if the XUV700 crosses 80 kmph at night, it automatically turns on additional LED lights for better visibility and safety.
Most of you would know that the XUV700 is also likely to get several radar-based level-1 autonomous safety features like adaptive cruise, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, and more. Besides, it will also be equipped with a host of premium features like dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory function, ventilated front seats, Mercedes-like twin-screen setup for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, connected car tech, wireless charging, electronic parking brakes with auto-hold function, panoramic sunroof, and many more.
Mahindra will offer the XUV700 with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. Both are expected to be borrowed from 2nd-gen Mahindra Thar (2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel), albeit in a higher state of tunes. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Select trims will get an AWD system. In addition to this, the SUV may also get a mild hybrid system, which will make it compliant with the upcoming CAFE 2 (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency) norm that will come into effect in 2022.
