2026 Renault Duster vs Hyundai Creta: Which SUV Offers Better Value?

Renault Duster, which played a key role in popularising the mid-size SUV segment when it was first launched in 2012, is now back on sale in the Indian market after being discontinued in 2022 due to rising competition. However, in its new-gen avatar, the 2026 Duster returns as a far more mature product, featuring contemporary design, improved build quality and a host of premium features. With its comeback, the Duster aims to reclaim its lost ground and take on established rivals such as the segment-leader Hyundai Creta. So, here, we have put both these mid-size SUV segments to see how they stack up against each other: –

  • Both Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta get three engine options, all offered in a front-wheel-drive setup.
  • Renault has refrained from offering a diesel powertrain and all-wheel-drive setup option available with the previous-gen Duster.
  • Unlike Creta, which gets a naturally aspirated petrol, a turbo-petrol and a diesel engine, the Duster is a petrol-only offering, available with two turbocharged and one strong-hybrid engine.
  • Despite being smaller in displacement, the Duster’s 1.3-litre mill is the most powerful and torquey turbocharged unit in the segment.
  • While the Creta benefits from a diesel engine, the Duster tries to offset this with the introduction of a strong-hybrid powertrain. However, buyers will have to wait longer for it as deliveries are slated to commence around the festive season.
