At their recent investor meeting, Mahindra announced its ambitious plans to launch as many as sixteen new SUVs by 2030, including nine internal combustion engine (ICE)-powered and seven electric SUVs under their XUV and BE sub-brands. Let’s delve into more details: –
- Out of these nine ICE-powered SUVs from Mahindra, three will be mid-cycle updates to existing models, including the recently launched XUV 3XO. Out of the remaining six new models, one will be the Mahindra Thar 5-door (likely to be called Thar Armada), which is expected to be launched on August 15 this year.
- We all know that Mahindra is also working on the new-gen Bolero and Scorpio N-based pickup truck.
- The previously revealed electric Thar could also be part of these launches. Additionally, the brand might introduce electric versions of the Scorpio and Bolero in the future. However, the electric XUV700, to be named XUV.e8, will be the first to launch, scheduled for December 2024.
- The XUV.e8 will be built on Mahindra’s all-new INGLOW platform that supports 60kWh and 80kWh battery packs. Head here for its range and feature details.
- In addition to the XUV.e8, the XUV.e9 coupe, Be.05 and Be.09 will be among the first vehicles to be launched from the company’s dedicated EV lineup.
- Besides outlining their upcoming launch plans, Mahindra also detailed their manufacturing goals. By the end of the financial year 2024-25, they aim to achieve a monthly production capacity of 64,000 SUVs. This includes a capacity for 10,000 EVs and an increase of 5,000 units for the XUV 3XO and the soon-to-be-launched Thar 5-door.
