Fourth-Gen Maruti Swift to Offer CNG Option Soon

Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce a CNG option for the newly launched fourth-gen Swift in India in the coming months. This will make it the first CNG car with the new Z-Series engine.

New Maruti Swift CNG – What’s New?

The all-new Maruti Swift features the brand’s latest 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, Z12E petrol engine, which produces 82PS and 112Nm. It comes with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. With the factory-fitted CNG kit, this engine will only have a 5-speed manual gearbox. Additionally, it will offer lower output than its petrol-only counterpart. However, we anticipate it will offer over 32 kmpl mileage with the CNG. Currently, the petrol-only Swift boasts a 24.80 kmpl fuel efficiency figure with the manual and a best-in-class 25.75 kmpl with the AMT gearbox.

Expect the CNG powertrain option to be limited to select variants. Furthermore, it could command a premium of around Rs 95,000 over their petrol-only counterparts. For reference, the 4th-gen Swift is currently priced between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.64 lakh (ex-showroom).

In the mid-size hatchback segment, the Swift locks horns with the Hyundai Grand i10 and select variants of Tata Tiago. Both these offerings are available with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
