Kia Carens Recalled Over Potential Issue With Instrument Cluster

  • Kia India has issued a recall for its Carens MPV over a potential issue with its instrument cluster.
  • According to the carmaker, a total of 30,297 units of Carens manufactured between September 2022 and March 2023 were affected by the recall.
  • The recall is due to a malfunction in the instrument cluster of some units of the Carens MPV. The issue causes the cluster not to boot up properly, resulting in a blank display.
  • Kia will soon start contacting the owners of the affected units to arrange appointments for inspection. If necessary, the software of the instrument cluster will be updated free of cost.
  • This is the second recall for the Carens. Earlier, it was recalled in October last year for a possible software glitch in the Airbag Control Module (ACM).

Currently, Kia offers the Carens in six broad trim levels – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, Luxury (O) and Luxury Plus, priced between Rs 10.45 lakh and Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom India). In the Indian market, it goes up against the Maruti Suzuki XL6.
