August 2025 turned out to be a challenging month for most carmakers, as most of the brands recorded a decline in sales on both YoY and MoM basis. However, as usual, Maruti Suzuki held its ground, while Hyundai climbed ahead of Mahindra to took the second spot on the list.

- Maruti Suzuki dispatched nearly 1.31 lakh units last month, witnessing a decline in its YoY and MoM numbers. Despite that, it ranked as the best-selling car brand in August 2025.
- With 44,000 unit sales, Hyundai managed to secure the second spot last month. Its YoY figure dipped by over eleven per cent, while MoM increased marginally.
- With just 3,000 units fewer from Hyundai, Tata secured the third spot on the list.
- Toyota was the only carmaker in August 2025 to witness positive growth in both MoM and YoY figures.
- The remaining five spots were secured by Kia, MG, Skoda, Honda and Renault, respectively.
- Kia witnessed a dip in both YoY and MoM numbers, while Skoda recorded the highest YoY growth.
- Japanese carmaker Honda witnessed the steepest decline in YoY figures.
