Audi A5 Gets Electrified: New PHEV Offers 110km Electric Range

German automaker Audi has introduced a new plug-in hybrid powertrain for the A5. This new Audi A5 with PHEV powertrain comes with an “e-hybid” suffix and is offered in both sedan and estate body styles.’

  • Powering the new Audi A5 e-Hybrid is a 252PS 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that comes paired with a 142PS electric motor, offering two power levels of combined output 300PS/450Nm and 367PS/500Nm.
  • In the 367PS versions, the A5 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. The versions with 300PS can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. All variants can reach a top speed of 250 km/h.
  • Audi has offered this new powertrain with a 7-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drive system.
  • Being a plug-hybrid model, it gets a 25.9kWh battery, which claims up to 110 km of pure electric range.
  • It supports AC fast charging of up to 11kW, which can juice up the battery pack fully in 2.5 hours.
  • It comes with two drive modes: EV and Hybrid.
  • In EV mode, the PHEV models run exclusively on electric power.
  • In Hybrid mode, the system preserves a set charge level to ensure sufficient energy is available for future use.
  • Design-wise, the Audi A5 e-Hybrid looks identical to its non-hybrid versions. The only visual change can be seen in the form of the e-hybrid badge on the front fender.
  • Like the entire A5 family, the PHEV models come with a high level of standard equipment. The sporty A5 e-hybrid quattro with the higher power level comes as standard with the S line exterior package, black styling package, and privacy glazing – making for a particularly dynamic appearance.
