The 2021 Triumph Street Scrambler 900 has finally made its way to our shores at a starting price of Rs 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom), commanding a hefty price premium of around Rs 80,000 over its previous (BS4) model. However, it is Rs 60,000 more affordable than its limited-run Sandstorm Edition, which was launched in May this year.
BS6 Triumph Street Scrambler 900 – What's New?
For 2021, the Street Scrambler gets a host of updates. Starting with the cosmetic front, the updated Triumph Scrambler receives a new headlight with an updated brushed aluminium bracket, aluminium number plate, new throttle body finishers along with a new heel guard. Moreover, it has also received a new ribbed seat that comes with a mix of leather and textile for the seat cover.
On the features front, the new Street Scrambler now comes with an all-LED illumination system, ride-by-wire technology, engine immobilizer, and a semi-digital instrument cluster. Besides, it continues to get a USB charger, switchable ABS, traction control, and three riding modes: Road, Rain, and Off-road.
BS6 Triumph Street Scrambler 900 – Engine & Gearbox
The 900cc parallel-twin engine of the Triumph Street Scrambler has been updated to meet the stricter BS6 emission norms. However, despite being more environment friendly, it continues to produce the same 65PS of maximum grunt at 7,250rpm and 80Nm of torque at 3,250rpm. The mill comes paired to a 5-speed gearbox that transmits the power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. It is claimed to deliver a fuel efficiency of 23.25kmpl.
BS6 Triumph Street Scrambler 900 – Underpinnings
The underpinnings of the new Street Scrambler also remain unchanged. It continues to utilize the same twin-cradle frame suspended on a 41mm telescopic fork and preload-adjustable dual shock-absorbers. Both offer a 120mm scope for wheel travel. The bike ride on 19-/17-inch (F/R) spoke wheels, wrapped in Metzeler Tourance tires. It has a low seat height of 790mm but at 223kg, its dry weight is quite high.
