In the last few years, the demand for sunroof-equipped models has witnessed a huge surge. Though it is a highly impractical feature for India's climate conditions, many customers still want it in their cars as it has become a luxury for most people. And so, automakers have also started offering them even in affordable cars. Here's a list of the top 8 cars that offer sunroof variants under Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom): –

1. Tata Nexon XMS 

Tata's highly popular Nexon sub-4-meter SUV is the most affordable car that you can buy with a sunroof. Its mid-spec XM (S) trim comes under Rs 10 lakh mark. It is available with both 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-liter diesel engines, paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed AMT. Their prices are as follows: –

2. Honda Jazz ZX

The top-spec ZX variant of Honda Jazz comes equipped with loads of premium features, including a single-pane electric sunroof, LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, auto AC, paddle shifters (CVT variants only), a 7-inch infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple Carplay, cruise control, height-adjustable driver seat, push-button start, dual-airbags, and many more. It is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine (90PS/110Nm), mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 7-step CVT gearbox. 

This Japanese premium hatchback takes on the likes of Toyota Glanza, Maruti Baleno, Volkswagen Polo, and the Hyundai i20. Among all, only the Korean offering gets an electric sunroof.

3. Hyundai i20 Asta (O) 

Next on the list is the Hyundai i20's top-spec Asta (O) variant. While this trim comes with three engine options, only its 1.2-liter petrol-manual (83PS/115Nm) version is priced below Rs 10 lakh. Here's the detailed pricing of the i20 Asta (O) trim. 

Hyundai cars are best known for their long set of features, and the story is not different for the i20 as well. That said, this Korean hatch also gets segment-leading features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, BlueLink connected car technology with the remote functionality, wireless smartphone charger, an air purifier, a semi-digital instrument cluster, up to six airbags, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

4. Honda WR-V VX

Based on the Honda Jazz, the WR-V's range-topping petrol-powered VX trim (Rs 9.75 lakh) can satisfy your craving for a sunroof. While it shares its features and powertrain options with the Jazz, it misses out on CVT automatic transmission. In lieu of this, the WR-V offers a 1.5-liter diesel engine (100PS/200Nm) option, but you will have to pay Rs 11.05 lakh for its sunroof-equipped model.

5. Mahindra XUV300 W6 

Updated in February 2021, all the variants of Mahindra XUV300 now come equipped with a sunroof, except for its base-spec W4 trim, but similar to the Tata Nexon, only its mid-spec W6 petrol-manual variant (Rs 9.91 lakh) makes it to our list. Also, at 110PS/200Nm, its 1.2-liter turbo-petrol unit is the torquiest engine in its class. 

6. Kia Sonet HTK+

Kia Sonet is one of the most sought-after sub-4-meter SUVs in the Indian market. If your eyes are set on this Korean beast, you have to shell out at least Rs 9.79 lakh for a sunroof-equipped HTK+ variant with a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine (120PS/172Nm), mated to a 6-speed iMT (intelligent manual transmission).

For this hefty price, you will also get features like automatic headlamps, projector fog lamps, front & rear silver skid plates, chrome finished door handles, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay & Android Auto, ARKAMYS sound system, auto AC, rearview camera, remote engine start with the smart key, and push start/stop functions, etc.

7. Ford EcoSport Titanium

Priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, both 1.5-litre petrol (122PS/149Nm) and 1.5-litre diesel engine (100PS/215Nm) equipped EcoSport Titanium variant comes with a single-pane electric sunroof. Besides, it also gets projector headlamps with LED DRLs, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system (without Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), automatic AC, keyless entry, rear washer & wiper, rearview camera, and more.

8. Hyundai Venue SX

Priced similar to Ford EcoSport Titanium, the sunroof-equipped Hyundai Venue SX trim is available with two engine options – 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (120PS/172Nm) and 1.5-litre diesel engine (100PS/240Nm). While the SX trim gets a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, its petrol model also comes with an optional iMT unit.

It largely shares its features list with the Sonet HTK+ variant, except for the rear windshield washer & wiper, a rear-seat center armrest, and wireless smartphone integration support.
