Three New Car Brands Making Their Way To Indian Market In 2026

India ranks among the top 3 automobile markets in the world, offering stiff competition to giants like China and the United States. Over the last few years, the Indian automobile market has undergone a rapid transformation, evolving from a price-sensitive, compact-car-dominated market into a more premium, tech-driven, SUV-heavy landscape. And that’s the reason why many automobile brands are eyeing the Indian market. Over the last few years, we have witnessed the entry of brands such as Citroen, MG, Kia, and VinFast into the Indian market. And now, three more automobile brands are gearing up to make their debut in our country. Here are all the details: –

1. JSW Motors

JSW Group, which is already a partner of MG Motor in India, is now preparing to step in as an independent partner. Its debut model is expected to be based on the Jetour T2 and will be a plug-in-hybrid SUV with over 100km of pure electric range. It is expected to launch around the festive season this year.

After the T2, the brand is likely to launch a compact SUV based on the Jaecoo J5 in late 2026 or early 2027.

2. Leapmotor

Stellantis is all set to introduce the Chinese electric carmaker, Leapmotor, to India. Currently, the EV maker is already present in over 23 countries, including the UK, Germany and Nepal. For those unaware, Jeep and Citroen are also part of the Stellantis group.

Leapmotor is known for its budget-friendly EVs and is likely to be targeting India’s growing EV market to compete against mass-market brands like Tata, MG, VinFast and Mahindra. In fact, the brand has already filed multiple patents for its various products, including the B10 SUV, which has recently secured a full 5-star safety rating in both Australasian and Euro NCAP crash tests. The other models in Leadmotor’s global portfolio include the T03 compact hatchback and the C10 SUV with a range extender option.

3. Genesis

During its last investor meet, Hyundai confirmed the plan to introduce its luxury arm “Genesis” to India by 2027 to take on brands like BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus and Volvo. These cars will be assembled in India to keep the prices in check.

Currently, Genesis has a strong global presence, with a lineup of six models: G70, GV80, G90, and their electric versions- GV60, electric G80, and electric GV70. Of these, the GV80 SUV is expected to be the first model from Genesis in India.
