Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric Launched At Rs 55 Lakh; Claims 792 km Range

Mercedes-Benz has launched the CLA Electric in India at Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom). Based on the brand’s new MMA platform, this entry-level electric sedan claims a range of up to 792 km on a single charge. It replaces the A-Class Limousine as well as EQA and EQB EVs from the brand’s product portfolio.

  • The 200 Standard Range variant claims a range of up to 542 km. It uses a 224PS/335Nm rear-mounted motor that enables it to complete the century sprint in just 7.5 seconds.
  • The top-spec 250+ Long Range variant comes equipped with an 85kWh NMC battery, offering a WLTP-claimed range of up to 792km.
  • Compared to the 200 Standard Range variant, it produces 49PS more power; however, the torque output remains the same. This brings down the 0 to 100 km/h sprint time to just 6.7 seconds.
  • Thanks to its 800V electrical architecture, the CLA can be fast-charged at up to 320kW, which can juice up its battery pack for 300km in just 10 minutes.

  • The CLA EV retains its signature coupe-like silhouette, but gets a refreshed appearance to suit its electrified nature.
  • It places strong emphasis on the Mercedes’ three-pointed star logo, featuring a star motif in the CLA’s headlights, taillight and the closed-off illuminated grille.
  • From the side, the low-slung stance, flowing roofline, and flush door handles give it a clean, aerodynamic profile, contributing to its remarkably low drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.21.
  • As mentioned above, the rear features a connected LED tail lamp setup with star detailing.

  • Inside, the CLA Electric boasts a minimalist cabin that emphasises technology.
  • It features a large panel stretching the width of the dash and incorporating a 14-inch central infotainment and a 10.25-inch digital cluster, along with an illuminated gloss black panel on the co-driver side.
  • Other features for creatures’ comfort include the powered front seats with heating & massage functions, connected car technology, dual-zone climate control, a Burmester premium 3D sound system, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, auto park assist, and a 360-degree parking camera.
  • Its safety kit includes six airbags, electronic stability control, an electronic parking brake, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and Level 2+ advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
