Tesla Model Y Long Wheelbase Version Launched In India At Rs 61.99 Lakh

Tesla has launched the Model Y L (Long Wheelbase) in India, priced at Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is essentially an extended, three-row 6-seater version of the Model Y, which commands a premium of Rs 2.10 lakh over its standard version. Its bookings are now open, while deliveries are expected to commence soon.

Tesla Model Y L – Design and Dimensions

  • The Model Y L is 179mm longer and 44mm taller, with its wheelbase extended by 150mm compared to the regular Model Y. However, the biggest difference is its 6-seater layout (2+2+2), while the standard model features a 2+3 configuration.
  • Globally, the Model Y L also comes in a 7-seater configuration.
  • Design-wise, the elongated coupe SUV looks similar to its smaller counterpart, albeit with redesigned 19-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels and a blacked-out spoiler.

Features Onboard

  • Both the Model Y and Model Y L are equipped with nearly identical sets of features, with key highlights including a large 16-inch touchscreen infotainment, panoramic glass roof, wireless smartphone charging, an 18-speaker sound system, pillar-mounted rear AC vents, ventilated & heated rear seats, secondary display for rear passengers, and much more.
  • Its safety kit includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, front & rear parking sensors and a level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).
  • Tesla India also offers the Model Y L with its Full Self Driving (FSD) system as an optional extra.

Tesla Model Y L – Battery, Specs and Range

  • Propelling the Model Y L is an 82 kWh battery pack, powering an all-wheel-drive motor layout with 193PS front motor and 269PS rear motor output.
  • It claims a range of 681 km on a full charge. That’s 20km more than the long-range Model Y.

Competition Check

The Model Y L has no direct rival in the Indian market. However, it can be seen as a close alternative to the Kia EV6, Volvo EC40, BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase and BYD Sealion 7.
