BSA Scrambler 650 Launched At Rs 3.24 Lakh

BSA has launched the Scrambler 650 in India at Rs 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom), marking it the brand’s second offering in the country after the Gold Star 650. It is available in 3 colour options with different prices: –

BSA Scrambler ColoursPrice
Raven BlackRs 3,24,950
Victor YellowRs 3,32,950
Thunder GreyRs 3,40,950

The Scrambler 650 is based on the same platform as the Gold Star 650, but features some minor styling changes, along with some hardware and ergonomic tweaks to suit its scrambler nature. That said, it comes equipped with a high-mounted front fender, fork gaiters, wire-spoke wheels with block-pattern tyres, and an upswept exhaust. It also features a different side panel with “65” graphics and a revised tail lamp setup.

Compared to the Gold Star 650, the Scrambler also comes with a slightly taller 820mm seat height and longer suspension travel, making it better suited for off-road use. Its ground clearance measures 187mm, while the dry weight is rated 208kg.

At the heart of the Scrambler 650 is the same 652cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as the BSA Gold Star 650, which makes 45PS of max power and 55Nm of peak torque. Paired with a 5-speed gearbox and slipper clutch, the engine is known for offering a strong low- and mid-range punch.

Speaking of the underpinnings, the BSA Scrambler 650 rides on 19-inch front (up from 18-inch on the Gold Star) and 17-inch rear wheels, suspended on a conventional telescopic fork at the front with 138mm travel and twin shock absorbers at the rear offering 127mm of travel. Anchoring duties are handled by a 320mm front and a 255mm rear disc brake setup, supported by dual-channel ABS. It also benefits from a traction control system.

Author’s Take

On paper, the new BSA Scrambler 650 seems to be best suited for those who want a retro-styled motorcycle with bigger road presence for everyday usability rather than hardcore capabilities. And interestingly, the bike also undercuts its closest rival, the Royal Enfield Bear 650, by a substantial margin of Rs 50,000.
