Mercedes Benz has launched the new AMG SL 55 in India, with prices starting from Rs 2.35 crore (ex-showroom). It has been brought to our shores through the CBU route.
Here’s all you need to know about this 4-seater roadster: –
- The new Mercedes-AMG SL 55 is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine that churns out a whopping power of 476PS and a peak torque of 700Nm.
- It comes mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission that powers all four wheels via the brand’s 4Matic+ AWD system.
- Mercedes claims that the SL 55 can complete the 0-100 kmph sprint in just 3.9 seconds.
- Its top speed is rated at 295 kmph.
- This German roadster also gets rear axle steering as standard fitment that improves manoeuvrability and enhances cornering, high-speed stability & control over the car.

- Dimensionally, the Mercedes-AMG SL 55 boasts a length of 4,705mm, a width of 1,915mm, and a height of 1,359mm, marking an increase of 88mm, 38mm and 44mm, respectively, from its older version. Furthermore, its wheelbase has been extended by 117mm, now measuring 2,700mm.
- The new SL also features a new electrically operatable fabric roof, which is 21kg lighter than its previous metal roof. It takes around 16 seconds to open/close and can be deployed at speeds of up to 60 kmph.
- Mercedes offers the AMG SL 55 in eight body shades: Selenite grey, Hyper blue, Obsidian black, Alpine grey, Spectral blue magno, Monza grey magno, Opalite white bright, and Patagonia Red bright.
- Inside, it gets five interior upholstery options to choose from – Sienna brown Nappa leather, Black Nappa leather, Black Nappa leather and microfibre with red stitching, Truffle brown Nappa leather and Black Nappa leather and microfibre with yellow stitching.
