Volkswagen Virtus, which was revealed in March 2022, is set to go on sale on 9th June 2022. Bookings for the upcoming sedan are already underway online and at dealerships across the nation.
For those who aren’t aware, the Volkswagen Virtus shares its underpinnings and powertrain with the Skoda Slavia. That said, it is also based on the same MQB-A0-IN platform as the Slavia and has a length of 4561mm, a width of 1752mm, and a wheelbase of 2651mm. Under the hood, the Virtus gets 115PS 1.0-liter and 150PS 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engines. While the smaller capacity mill comes with the choice of a 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic, the 1.5-liter gets a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DSG) standard.

Volkswagen will offer the Virtus in two broad trims: Dynamic Line and Performance (GT) Line. The latter will solely get the 1.5-liter TSI-DSG combination, along with some distinguished visual characteristics such as bespoke alloy wheels, a dual-tone paint scheme, a rear spoiler, tons of red highlights, and the ‘GT’ badging all around.
Features onboard include LED headlamps (standard), a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, an 8-inch digital driver’s display, auto AC, rear AC vents, front ventilated seats, up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, hill hold assist, and rear parking sensors with camera.
We reckon Volkswagen to price the Virtus between Rs 10.50 lakh to Rs 17.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), positioning it against the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, and Skoda Slavia.
