Volkswagen Polo, Vento And Taigun Got Costlier

Volkswagen India has revised the prices of Polo, Vento, and Taigun by up to Rs 45,700. This is in line with the carmaker’s announcement last month to hike the prices of its select models. However, the prices of the recently launched Tiguan Facelift remain unchanged. The German automaker has mentioned increasing input and operational costs as the reason behind the price hike move. Volkswagen has spared the base Comfortline and second-to-the-base Highline variant from the price hike. With this, the sub-4m sedan now ranges from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 14.79 lakh (ex-showroom).

This is the second price hike for VW Taigun since its launch in September 2021. Earlier, the automaker increased its prices by up to Rs 5,200 in the last week of December 21. With the recent price hike, the SUV has now become up to Rs 50,900 more expensive than its launch price (Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 17.49 lakh). 

In other news, Volkswagen is gearing up to launch the Virtus mid-size sedan by mid-2021, which is expected to replace the Vento compact sedan from the carmaker's India lineup.
