VinFast, a Vietnamese automotive brand, has recently broken ground for its first EV manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu, India. And now, the carmaker has filed a design patent for the VF3 electric mini-SUV in the country.
Unveiled at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the VinFast VF3 is a 2-door mini-SUV that boasts a boxy design with chunky front and rear bumpers and black-finished wheel arches. Additionally, it features a black roof and glossy black alloy wheels. With its tall, robust appearance and ample ground clearance, the VF3 exudes a rugged charm.
Regarding dimensions, the VF3 measures 3190mm in length, 1679mm in width and 1620mm in height, with a boot space of 550 litres.
Inside, the micro SUV comes loaded with features, such as an advanced 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, connected car technology, digital instrument cluster, fully folding 2nd-row seats, auto AC, cruise control and dual front airbags.
VinFast will be offered in two trim levels: Eco and Plus, both with a single-motor configuration. While technical details are scarce at the moment, it has a targeting range of approximately 201 kilometres on a full charge.

As of now, there’s no official information regarding its India launch timeline. We anticipate the carmaker to start its India operation with fully imported vehicles by 2025, followed by the introduction of CKDs (completely knocked-down units) by 2026.
