Toyota has showcased the bZ4X electric SUV concept at the ongoing Auto Expo 2023. It’s one of the seven BEVs that the brand will offer through the bZ (Beyond Zero) series across the globe.
Co-developed with Subaru, the Toyota bZ4X uses the brand’s e-TNGA platform, which is developed explicitly for battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
Design-wise, the Toyota bZ4X features sharp cuts & creases all over, giving it a sporty look. Its aggressively styled bumpers, swept-back LED headlamps, plastic cladding over the wheel arches and angular rear end further enhance its overall appearance.
The interior of the car looks futuristic and features a minimalistic design approach. It gets a Jet-inspired yolk-type steering wheel and a high-mounted digital instrumentation display that improves visibility and ensures the least eye movement to read driving-related information. There is also a joystick-like gear selector and a large floating touchscreen infotainment system with tactile controls to give you a complete cockpit-like experience.
Globally, Toyota offers the bZ4X with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. Both models get the same 71.4 kWh of the battery pack and support DC fast charging of up to 150 kW. It is claimed to offer a range of up to 405 kilometres. The SUV also get an onboard solar recharging system that will recharge the battery when the car is stationary.
Will it be launched in India?
Well, the Japanese automaker hasn’t made any official announcement regarding it. But if it is launched, it will go up against the likes of the Kia EV6, BMW i4, Volvo XC40 Recharge and Hyundai IONIQ 5.
