The Most Affordable Ducati Adventure Bike Is Here

Ducati has launched its most affordable adventure touring motorcycle, the Multistrada V2, in India to take on the likes of BMW F 900 XR and Triumph Tiger 900 GT. It costs Rs 14.65 lakh for the standard variant, whereas the ‘S’ trim will set back you Rs 16.65 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom pan-India). It is Rs 1 lakh more expensive than the Ducati Multistrada 950 it supersedes.

Ducati Multistrada V2 – How is it different from the Multistrada 950?

Compared to the Ducati Multistrada 950, the Multistrada V2 is a more mature product with tons of ergonomic-related updates. For beginners, the bike weighs 5kg less than its predecessor, tipping the scale at 199kg for the Standard and 203kg for the S trim. The credit goes to its new rims, updated rearview mirrors, new aluminum disc flanges, and lighter engine internals.

The brand has also equipped it with a new engine cover, repositioned footpegs, and a revised seat that’s slimmer and lower than before. That said, the seat height has decreased by 10mm to 830mm, to make it suitable for shorter riders.

Underpinnings and Features

Moving to the underpinnings, the bike has remained unchanged. It continues to use the same tubular steel trellis frame, with fully-adjustable 48mm forks at the front and a fully adjustable mono-shock at the rear with an aluminum double-sided swingarm. The top-spec V2S, on the other hand, comes with an electronic Skyhook suspension system. The braking system of the two bikes comprises 320mm discs up front and a 265mm unit at the rear, nabbed by Brembo calipers.

In terms of electronic aids, the base Multistrada V2 gets an LCD display, cornering ABS, traction control, Vehicle Hold Control, Ducati Brake Light system, self-canceling turn indicators, and multiple riding modes, whereas the V2S also comes fitted with a 5-inch TFT color display, hands-free system, a bi-directional quick-shifter, backlit handlebar switches, cruise control, Ducati Cornering Lamps, full LED headlight, and an optional tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
