Tata To Launch Upgraded Tigor EV Soon, Likely To Be Called X Pres-T EV

Tata Motors will soon launch the facelifted version of the Tigor EV in the Indian market. If reports are to be believed, it could be known as ''X Pres-T EV'' and would be available in two levels of trims – standard and extended. Each variant will further get two sub-variants —  XM and XT for the standard, and XM+ and XT+ for the extended variant.

Tata Tigor EV 2021

The Tata X Pres-T standard trim will get a 16.2kWh battery pack that was offered with the outgoing Tigor when it was launched first. It is likely to offer a claimed range of 165km against the 143km on the outgoing Tigor EV. On the other hand, the extended variant will get the existing 21.5kWh battery pack that offers an ARAI-tested range of 213km on a single charge. The upgraded Tata's electric sedan will continue to be powered by a 72V 3-phase AC induction motor, which is capable of churning out 41PS of max power and 105Nm of peak torque.

Design-wise, the Tata X Pres-T will borrow its design cues from the Tigor Facelift (IC engine powered) that was launched last year. That said, it will get a tri-arrow pattern finished redesigned enclosed front grille, revised headlamps, and new bumpers. Besides, the charging socket will now be positioned in the grille instead of on the side. Like the Nexon EV, the XPres-T will also get a dose of blue highlights to make it more distinctive from its IC engine counterpart.

On the features front, the X Pres-T is expected to retain most of the equipment of the Tigor Facelift that mainly includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker system from Harman, auto climate control, a flat-bottom steering wheel, push-button start, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors, etc.

As of now, the Tigor EV has no direct competitor in the Indian market. However, Mahindra's E Verito could be seen as its close alternative.
