The Punch is available with a sole 1.2-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 86PS and 113Nm and comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission. It is claimed to deliver 18.97kmpl with manual and 18.82kmpl with AMT unit. Tata is also expected to offer a turbo-petrol engine in the coming months.

The highlight of the Tata Punch is its IMPACTful design. It features Harrier-like split headlamps setup, whereas its glossy black finished humanity grille will remind you of the sub-4m Nexon SUV. Similar to the Harrier, there's also the plastic body cladding around the car.

Head to the side and you will notice its boxy silhouette with the tapering roofline, robust roof rails, and chunkier wheel arches with prominent cladding that gives it a proper SUV-like appeal. At the back, it features tri-arrow taillights and a sculpted tailgate.

As for features, the Punch largely shares its features list with the Altroz premium hatchback. The highlights include 90-degree opening doors, a 7-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, iRA connected car tech (optional), a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, a Harman Kardon audio system, automatic climate control, cooled glovebox, flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, cruise control, multiple driving modes, reversing camera, etc. It also gets Traction Pro mode for the AMT variants, which will help the car out of the tricky driving conditions.

In terms of safety, the smallest Tata SUV comes with dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, speed alert, seatbelt reminders, and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard. It was recently awarded a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash tests

Tata is also offering pre-defined accessory packs (optional) for all four trims, namely Rhythm (Rs 35,000), Dazzle (Rs 45,000), and iRA (Rs 30,000). Click here for variant-wise features details.

The Tata Punch rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 NXT. However, as per its pricing, it will also take on the Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Nissan Magnite, Renault Triber, and Kiger.
