Renault India has recently launched the Duster Hybrid, with prices ranging from Rs 16.99 lakh to Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in direct competition with the hybrid versions of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder. While we have already compared the Duster Hybrid with the Maruti Victoris Hybrid, in this thread, we’ve compared the French SUV with the Grand Vitara and Hyryder Hybrid to see which SUV makes more sense for you.

Powering the Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Grand Vitara is the same hybrid powertrain that is also available with the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. It claims a fuel efficiency of early 28 km/l, which is just 1km/l less than the Duster Hyryder. However, being a 3-cylinder engine, it has some NVH issues. We believe this shouldn’t be the case with the Duster, as it gets a more sophisticated 4-cylinder engine with a larger displacement. This, coupled with a more powerful traction motor, helps the Duster generate better combined output than the Hyryder & Grand Vitara duo.

Author’s Take
As the above comparisons show, the Duster gives tough competition to the Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Grand Vitara. Priced competitively, it has a more powerful and frugal powertrain, larger dimensions, a practical boot, and a well-equipped cabin, making it a well-rounded offering. However, how these strengths translate into real-world performance and the overall driving experience remains to be seen. On the other hand, the Hyryder and Grand Vitara are already well-established offerings in the market and are generously loaded. So, we suggest taking thorough test drives of all of these models to experience them firsthand before making your final decision.
