Renault India has started accepting orders for the Duster Hybrid at a token amount of Rs 21,000. The SUV is slated to launch on October 17, 2026. The French carmaker has also revealed its specifications and fuel efficiency figures.
Renault Duster Hybrid: Engine Specifications and Fuel Efficiency (Mileage)
The Renault Duster Hybrid features a 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with a self-charging, series-parallel, strong-hybrid system called E-Tech. It was developed partly using expertise gained from Formula 1’s energy-recovery systems, electric motors, and energy management.
This hybrid powertrain uses a petrol engine, along with two motors – a 49hp electric motor and a 20hp hybrid starter generator, powered by a 1.4kWh (280V) battery. Together, they produce a combined output of 160 PS.

It also features a specialised multi-mode clutchless transmission system. Called Dedicated Hybrid Transmission, it manages the interaction between the engine and electric motors. It uses fixed gear ratios and can shift between them depending on the driving condition, i.e., electric mode, engine mode, and a combination of both.
Renault claims the Duster hybrid can run in electric mode for nearly 80% of the time in city driving, helping it to deliver an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of 28 kmpl.

Author’s Take
The hybrid powertrain will make the Renault Duster a more desirable option for those with high daily running, whether in the city or on the highway, by helping reduce fuel expenses. It will also make up for the absence of a diesel engine in the Duster’s lineup by offering better fuel efficiency.
