Jaguar India has now opened the pre-launch bookings of its upcoming i-Pace SUV. It will be the first electric SUV from the British maker in the Indian market and the second luxury EV after the Mercedes-Benz EQC. It is likely to be launched by the end of 2020, and deliveries are likely to commence from March 2021.
The Jaguar i-Pace is already available for sale in European markets, and just like the UK-spec, it’ll be offered in three variants: S, SE, and HSE.
Jaguar i-PACE Electric SUV – Powertrain, Charging Capabilities & Drive Range
The Jaguar i-Pace comprises two electric motors, one on each axle, churning out a combined output of 400PS and 696Nm. These motors pluck their charge from the 90kWh battery pack, which will come with a standard 8 years/1,60,000km battery warranty along with a 5 years complimentary service and roadside assistance on the car.
The i-PACE delivers a WLTP-claimed range of 470km and can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.8 seconds with the top speed limited at 200kmph. But in the actual conditions, we expect it will deliver a range below 400km.
To cater the need for charging stations, Jaguar has partnered with Tata Power, which has set 200+ stations across 23 major cities of the country including Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai & Pune. The 50kW DC chargers can charge the I-Pace 0-80% in just 85 minutes.
Jaguar will also offer a 7.4kW wall box charger with the SUV that will be installed at your desired location at no extra cost. This will take up to 13 hours to charge the battery from 0 to 100%. It is important to note that the i-PACE’s charging system is capable of handling as high as 150kW of DC charging.
Jaguar i-PACE Features
As far as the features are concerned, the fully-loaded trim of the i-PACE will come equipped with Matrix LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, auto-dimming and heated ORVMs with a memory function, powered & gesture-controlled tailgate, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, two-zone climate control, ambient lighting, leather upholstery, 16-way powered adjustable front seats with ventilation function, a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, torque vectoring, lane-keep assist, a 360-degree camera, and six airbags, etc.
Expected Price
Jaguar will bring the i-PACE to India as a completely built unit (CBU). It clearly means that it will command a high price tag and we expect it to be priced around Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will compete against the likes of Mercedes-Benz EQC and the upcoming Audi e-Tron.
