MG Windsor with Bigger Battery Pack Likely to Launch Next Month

MG Motor is expected to launch the Windsor with a larger battery pack next month. The updated EV may also feature new amenities and enhanced safety features.

Currently, the Windsor EV comes with a 38 kWh battery pack that claims an ARAI-rated range of 332 km. Now, it is expected to get a larger 50.6 kWh unit, with a claimed range of around 460 km. The same battery is already being offered in Indonesia, where the model is sold as the Wuling Cloud EV. However, it will continue to be offered in the front-wheel configuration with 136PS of power and 200Nm of peak torque.

With the bigger battery, the Windsor will not only appeal to customers seeking longer range but also better position itself against newer rivals in the EV segment. Apart from the mechanical update, MG could also introduce new features, including an ADAS suite, with key amenities including adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking, high-beam assist and lane-keep assist. If offered, this will make the overall package even more wholesome and attractive.

MG Windsor EV full price list

Since its launch in September 2024, the Windsor has given a big boost to MG’s sales in India. Recently, MG achieved the 20K sales milestone for the Windsor, reaching this key figure in just six months since its launch. Even more impressive, it has regularly outsold its main rival, the Tata Nexon EV, which had been the top-selling EV for a long time. With the new, larger battery, the Windsor’s sales are likely to grow even further. However, prices are also expected to rise slightly from the current range of Rs 14 lakh to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). More details are expected to be revealed closer to the launch.
