Upcoming MG M9 to Enter India as CKD – Local Assembly Confirmed

First showcased at the Auto Expo 2025, the MG M9 MPV is gearing up for its India launch. Some media report suggests that the luxury EV will be introduced through the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route with local assembly. This strategic move suggests MG Motor is positioning the M9 as a competitively priced offering in India’s growing electric segment, as it enables more attractive pricing compared to fully imported units. We expect it to be priced at around Rs 60 – 70 lakh (ex-showroom).

For those unaware, the MG M9 is an electric luxury MPV that will be sold via MG Select premium dealerships and will be positioned against the Kia EV9.

The M9 features a boxy design, with dimensions measuring over 5 meters in length. It gets connected LED DRLs and projector headlamps for enhanced visibility and electric sliding doors for easy access. MG will offer it in both 6 and 7-seating configurations.

The cabin of the new MG M9 exudes luxury, thanks to its elegant black and tan interior theme, complemented by soft-touch materials spread across the dashboard, door panels and centre console. The dashboard design is sleek and layered, sporting a clean layout with dual screens and a stylish 2-spoke steering wheel.

Staying true to MG’s feature-packed approach, the M9 offers a wide range of premium amenities. These include a floating infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital driver’s display, a display for front passengers, three-zone climate control, a 12-speaker sound system, powered front & 2nd-row seats with ventilation & eight massage modes, rear entertainment screens, a single-pane sunroof for the front occupants and a large panoramic sunroof for those in the rear.

On the safety front, the M9 is likely to come equipped with multiple airbags, front & rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, disc brakes on all four wheels, and an electronic parking brake. Additionally, it could offer Level-2 ADAS with features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance assist, auto emergency braking and much more.

Globally, MG offers the M9 with a 90kWh battery pack paired to a front-axle mounted motor that makes 244PS/350Nm. It has a claimed range of 430 kilometres and is compatible with 120kW DC fast charging that can juice up its battery pack from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes.
