- With the discontinuation of 4WD Convertible variants, the entry-level AX(O) trim is now only available with rear-wheel drive (RWD), paired with a 1.5-litre diesel engine.
- Despite the variant rejig, the overall price range of the 3-door Thar remains the same. The hardcore off-roader continues to be priced between Rs 11.50 lakh and Rs 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
- Aside from the variant revision, the Thar remains unchanged. It retains amenities like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, coloured MID, 6-speaker sound system, manual AC, cruise control, steering-mounted controls, dual-front airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, ESC, ISOFIX anchors, hill descent and much more. Features like six airbags, ADAS and 360-degree camera are still missing.

The Mahindra Thar is a true-blue off-roader that can tackle all kinds of tough terrains without any trouble. It’s not a replacement for a compact SUV, though — it lacks the same comfort, features, and smooth on-road behaviour. For most people, it will work better as a second car in the garage, but with a few compromises, it can even be the only car. Despite the recent variant cuts, the Thar remains a rugged, value-for-money SUV that continues to attract adventure lovers. Mahindra is also expected to give the Thar a facelift next year, with minor design tweaks and some new features borrowed from the Thar Roxx edition.
