MG Hector Now Rs 95,000 More Affordable; Two New Variants Introduced

MG Motor India has announced a Rs 95,000 price cut for the entry-level Style variant of the Hector SUV, bringing its starting price down to Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the second price cut for Hector in the last two months. In addition, the company has also introduced two new variants to its lineup – Shine Pro and Select Pro, replacing the Shine and Smart variants, respectively.

MG Hector Shine Pro, Selecr Pro Variants – What’s New?

  • To start with, the petrol version of the Shine Pro is up to Rs 44,000 more affordable than the now-discontinued Shine petrol trim. On the other hand, its diesel iteration is Rs 20,000 more expensive than the outgoing Shine diesel.

  • Compared to the outgoing Shine variant, the new MG Hector Shine Pro variant is better loaded, with features like LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, sequential turn indicators, 17-inch alloy wheels, front & rear fog lamps, 7-inch digital driver’s display, 1 14-inch infotainment with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charger, push-button start, single-pane electric sunroof, 6-speaker sound system, and cruise control.
  • Speaking of the new Hector Select Pro variant, it is priced up to Rs 25,000 higher than the outgoing Smart variant.
  • Placed above the new Shine Pro variant, the Select Pro trim offers larger 18-inch alloys, panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, 8-speaker sound system with woofer & amplifier and LED reading lights inside.

Any Mechanical Changes?

No, MG hasn’t made any changes underneath the hood. The Hector continues to be powered by the same 143PS 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and 170PS 2-litre turbocharged diesel engine as earlier, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The gasoline motor also gets an optional CVT automatic transmission.

Competitors

In the mid-size SUV segment, the MG Hector faces competition from the Tata Harrier, 5-seater variants of Mahindra XUV700 and Jeep Compass.
