As clear from the above table, the MG Astor gets two petrol engine options – a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated (110PS/144Nm) and a 1.3-liter turbocharged unit (140PS/220Nm). While the turbocharged mill comes only with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, the 1.5-liter motor is available with either a 6-speed manual and an optional 8-step CVT automatic.

MG Astor – Design and Features

Talking about its design, the Astor is based on the global-spec facelifted MG ZS. And thus, it gets a differently styled Celestial front grille, LED headlamps, taillamps, and 17-inch alloy wheels when compared to the Indian-spec MG ZS EV. The dashboard layout of the car also looks similar to the ZS EV except for some minor tweaks in the form of a larger 10.1-inch infotainment screen, a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a reworked AC control panel, and plenty of soft-touch materials that give it a more upmarket and premium feel. However, the biggest highlight of the MG Astor is a robot head-like personal AI assistant that comes placed on top of the dash. This device can display human-like emotions and can even turn to the person interacting with it. It provides info like real-time traffic updates, live cricket match scores, weather updates, etc, and also performs certain in-car functions like opening and closing sunroof, online music streaming, navigation, and much more.

MG Astor interior and features

The other notable features of the Astor include automatic LED headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, heated ORVMs, 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, power steering modes with three modes (Normal, Urban, and Dynamic), i-Smart connected car technology with 80+ features, panoramic sunroof, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth-based digital smart key that you can even use to drive the car without the actual key.

Passenger's safety is ensured by up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program (ESP), traction control system (TCS), hill hold & descent control, all four disc brakes, tire pressure monitoring, and a 360-degree camera. Besides, the MG has also equipped the Astor with optional Level-2 ADAS (Advanced driving assistance system) that uses radar technology to offer active safety features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, high-beam assist, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot detection, and traffic sign recognition, etc.

MG Astor – Color Options

The Astor is available in five exterior color options – Orange, Silver, Red, White, and Black, whereas its interior comes in three different color schemes – dual-tone Sangria Red, dual-tone Iconic Ivory, and Tuxedo Black.

MG Astor – Warranty

MG has offered the Astor with three years (unlimited kilometers) of standard warranty along with roadside assistance for the same period. In addition, customers can also extend their warranty package by up to five years at some additional cost.

MG Astor – Rivals

In the Indian market, the MG Astor locks horns with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Maruti S-Cross, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. However, its broad price range also puts it against some bigger SUVs like Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV700
