Over 50 Percent Of Maruti Suzuki Production Affected Last Month, Issue Will Continue In October

Owing to a supply limitation of electronic components due to the ongoing global semiconductor chips crisis, the production of Maruti Suzuki at its Gujrat and Gurugram-based plants decreased by 51 percent in September 2021. That said, the brand manufactured a total of 81,278 units last month compared to the production of 1,66,086 units in the same period last year.

Maruti Suzuki production in September 2021

Talking about the segment-wise production, the brand built a total of 77,782 units of passenger vehicles and 3,496 units of commercial vehicles in September. With this, its sales also went down in September 2021, standing at 86,380 units (domestic + exports) against 1,60,442 units in September 2020. With this, the total sales in the month include domestic sales of 66,415 units, sales to other OEMs of 2,400 units, and exports of 17,565 units.

Maruti Suzuki is expecting a similar adverse impact on vehicle production in October as well in both Haryana and its contract manufacturing company, Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG) in Gujarat. However, the brand has stated that the situation is pretty dynamic and the total vehicle production volume across both locations could be around 60% of normal production.
