Maruti Suzuki Escudo EV Spied Testing, Launch Likely On Sept 3

A heavily camouflaged test mule of Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming electric SUV has been spotted testing on Delhi-Mumbai expressway ahead of its expected launch on September 3, 2025. It is expected to be called “Maruti Suzuki e-Escudo”.

Maruti Escudo: Production-spec of eVitara

Even under full camouflage, the SUV’s silhouette, lighting elements, and a charging-flap-like cutout on the left fender suggest it is the production version of the electric SUV showcased as the eVitara at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. However, fresh reports indicate that Maruti Suzuki will drop the eVitara name and launch the model as the “e-Escudo”, reviving a globally recognised Suzuki badge.

What To Expect?

The e-Escudo will be positioned against the likes of Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV. It will retain the same design as the eVitara showcased at the 2025 Auto Expo and will be the brand’s most feature-loaded SUV, packed with a host of premium features seen for the first time on any Maruti vehicle. The key highlights include: –

  • A connected dual-screen setup for infotainment and instrument cluster
  • A 2-spoke steering wheel
  • A fixed glass roof
  • A 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat
  • Slide-and-recline function for the second-row seats
  • A foldable middle seat doubling as a centre armrest

Besides, it is also expected to get an all-LED lighting system, leather-wrapped steering, ventilated front seats, multiple driving modes, a PM2.5 air filter, ambient lighting, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, seven airbags, front & rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and level-2 ADAS suite.

Going by the reports, it is expected to be offered with two engine options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh, with a WLTP claimed range of 344km and 426 km on a single charge. Head here for more technical details.
