Mahindra Thar and XUV700 Recalled Over Turbocharger Issue

Mahindra & Mahindra has recalled select batches of XUV700 and Thar over turbocharger issues. However, the exact number of affected vehicles and their manufacturing period are unknown at the moment.

As per the reports, Mahindra will replace the turbocharger actuator linkage in both manual and automatic variants of the XUV700 and Thar diesel, whereas the T-Block connector installations on the GVV vent pipes and canister will also be inspected in the XUV700 petrol variants. Additionally, the timing belt auto-tensioner will also be replaced on all petrol and diesel variants of the Thar.

For those who aren’t aware, the actuator serves as a pressure relief valve or boost pressure regulator that controls the boost output in the turbocharged engines through the adjustment of the guide vans and regulates the speed of the compressor by diverting excess exhaust gases from the turbine wheel. The timing belt tensioner, on the other hand, keeps the timing belt tight to ensure smooth operation.

The SUVmaker will soon start contacting the owners of the affected units. In between, customers can also check if their vehicle is among those recalled units by entering the last 8 digits of their vehicle’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on Mahindra’s official website.
