Mahindra is gearing up to introduce a new mid-spec S5 variant for the highly popular Scorpio Classic, the prices of which will be revealed in the near future. Despite the arrival of the new-generation Scorpio N, the Scorpio Classic remains in high demand and currently has a waiting period of up to 8 months.
Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5 – What’s New?
- Going by the leaked images, the S5 trim will get a few cosmetic additions over the base-spec S variant. These include 17-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers, roof rails, side steps and body-coloured cladding with Scorpio badging on the doors.
- Inside, the S5 trim is identical to the S trim, offering an identical set of features comprising halogen headlamps, manual AC, rear AC vents, central locking, power windows, dual-front airbags, seatbelt reminder and rear parking sensors.
- Compared to the range-topping S11 trim, it misses out on features like auto AC, height adjustable driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 9-inch Android-based infotainment, rear washer & wiper, rear defogger, cornering lamp, powered ORVMs and more.

Powering the Mahindra Scorpio Classic is a 2.2-litre mHawk turbocharged diesel engine, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Here’s a look at their specifications: –

Going by the above-mentioned additions, expect the upcoming S5 variant of the Scorpio Classic to command a premium of roughly Rs 1 lakh over the base-spec S variant that currently costs Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom).
