Kia Records 3.9% YoY Growth; Sales Reach 19,500 Units In May 2024

With the start of the new year, Kia India has revealed its sales figures for last month. The Korean car manufacturer recorded sales of 19,500 units in May 2024, a Year-on-Year (YoY) growth of over 3.9% compared to the 18,766 units sold in the same month last year.

The recently launched Sonet facelift emerged as Kia’s best-selling model in May 2024, with 7,433 units sold. Following closely behind are the Seltos and Carens, with 6,736 and 5,316 units sold, respectively. Additionally, Kia dispatched 2,304 units to overseas markets during the month, bringing the production figure to 21,804 units. Notably, Kia India surpassed the significant milestone of 2.5 lakh exports to over 100 countries, bolstered by its steadfast export strategy. The Seltos leads the pack, accounting for nearly 60% of India’s exports, followed by the Sonet and Carens, contributing 34% and 7%, respectively.

Kia India Sales in May 2024

In just under five years, Kia has solidified its position as one of India’s leading car brands, having sold over 9.8 lakh units in the domestic market. Notably, the Seltos accounts for nearly 50% of this total. Looking ahead, Kia India has announced plans to launch two global models, the EV9 electric SUV and the new-gen Carnival MPV, in the second half of the year, further solidifying its presence in the Indian market.

Commenting on the last month’s sales, Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar – Senior Vice President and Head of Sales & Marketing at Kia India, said, “So far in this year, we have been aggressive in introducing new competitive variants of our models, which has contributed significantly to our sales. With a robust network expansion strategy in place, we shall continue to grow in the rest of the year and cross 1 million domestic sales milestone soon”.
