Kia India has revealed its future plan through the unveiling of the EV9 electric concept at the Auto Expo 2023. It’s a three-row SUV that is based on the same E-GMP platform as the Kia EV6 and recently launched Hyundai IONIQ 5.
The Kia EV9 flaunts a futuristic design, revealing the electrified version of Kia’s signature tiger nose grille. The vertically stacked headlamps combine the array of LED pixels, whereas the LED DRLs are placed on the outer edge of the SUV. It also houses an onboard solar recharging system that will recharge the battery on the go.
From the sides, the concept flaunts a boxy silhouette with chunky wheel arches and prominent cladding giving it a more assertive look. What’s more interesting is that the carmaker has cameras in place of the ORVMs that enhance the aerodynamic profile of the SUV.
At the rear, the vertical LED tail lamps merging into the D-pillar and the large bumper rounds off its overall bolder appearance.

Thanks to the large window panels and gigantic panoramic roof, the Kia EV9’s cabin has a fairly roomy cabin. The interior has a minimalistic layout, with sweeping screens covering the width of the dashboard. And since its battery pack is placed inside the floor, it offers abundant cabin space. Also, the front two seats in the concept can swivel around to face the rear passengers. However, it is unlikely to make to its production-spec version.
Technical details of the Kia EV9 concept are scarce at the moment. However, the brand has confirmed that it will offer a range of approximately 483 kilometres on a single charge. It will also support DC fast charging of up to 350 kW.
The Kia EV9 will make it to production in the near future. However, it is unlikely to make its way to the Indian shores.
