Kia Discontinues Diesel-iMT Option For Sonet, Seltos and Carens

Kia India has axed the diesel-iMT powertrain option from the Sonet, Seltos and Carens variant lineup. The brand has taken this decision likely due to poor demand. However, the brand continues to offer the iMT gearbox with their turbocharged petrol engine options. In addition, Kia has introduced some new variants for these utility vehicles.

  • Kia has discontinued Sonetโ€™s HTX and HTX+ diesel-iMT variants, replacing them with the new HTK+ (O) variant. This new variant has been positioned between the HTK (O) and HTX variants and is available with the SUVโ€™s 1.2-litre N.A. petrol manual and 1-litre turbo-petrol-iMT powertrain options.
  • Speaking of the Seltos, the HTX diesel-IMT variant has now been discontinued. To compensate, Kia has introduced three new variants โ€” HTK (O), HTK+ (O) and HTX (O), along with some feature reshuffling. Additionally, the Seltos GT Line is now offered only in the fully loaded GTX+ variant, replacing the earlier GTX and GTX+ variants.
  • In the Carens, Kia has removed the diesel-iMT powertrain and delisted the Luxury 6/7-seater variant. Along with that, the diesel-AT configuration is now only offered in the Prestige Plus (O) variant. Additionally, the X-Line variant is now only available with the turbo-petrol-DCT powertrain.
  • Kia has also axed the Gravity Edition from Sonet and Seltosโ€™ lineup. However, Carenโ€™s Gravity Edition continues to be on sale.
