Kia Carens Clavis EV Launched At Rs 17.99 Lakh; Booking Starting From July 22

The Kia Carens Clavis EV has finally been launched in India, with prices ranging between Rs 17.99 lakh and Rs 24.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom), making it the company’s most affordable electric vehicle in the country.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Exterior Design

The Carens Clavis EV looks quite similar to its ICE version. However, it features subtle styling tweaks to denote its green nature. These changes include –

  • A front grille integrated charging port, along with a silver accent below it.
  • New pixel-style fog lamps between the faux skid plate.
  • Active air flaps.
  • 17-inch aerodynamically designed alloy wheels.
  • Slightly tweaked bumpers with prominent silver highlights.

It also gets a 25-litre frunk for your tiny stuff or to store the portable charger.

Inside, the Carens Clavis EV gets the same dashboard layout as the standard Carens Clavis, featuring a dual-connected display for infotainment and instrument cluster. However, it now features a fresh black-and-white colour scheme, along with a redesigned, floating centre console, which features a well-padded armrest and sliding tray.

Unlike its ICE version, which is available in both 6- and 7-seat configurations, the electric version is only offered as a 7-seater.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Battery Pack and Range

Kia has offered the electrified Carens Clavis with two battery pack options: a 42kWh and a 51.4 kWh battery pack with up to 490 km of claimed range (MIDC Part 1 + 2). Powering it is a single electric motor, making 171PS of max power and 255Nm of peak torque, enabling the family mover to hit the 0-100 kmph mark in just 8.1 seconds. Kia claims that the motor runs at 95% efficiency, with only 5% lost as heat or other forms of energy waste.

It can be charged from 10 to 80% in 39 minutes using a 100kW DC charger.

Battery Warranty

Kia is offering its battery pack with an 8-year/1.60 lakh km warranty for added peace of mind.

Competition Check

Once launched, it will serve as a 7-seater alternative to the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6 and MG ZS EV.
