K10 Moniker Will Make Comeback With New-Gen Maruti Alto; Variant Details Leaked

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the new-generation Alto on 18th August 2022. And as suggested by a recently leaked transport department’s document, Maruti will reuse the ‘K10’ suffix with the hatch. This also implies that it will be sold alongside the existing Alto 800.

The leaked document also reveals the dimensions and variant lineup of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Alto K10. It will be 3,530mm long, 1,490mm wide, 1,520mm tall, and will possess a wheelbase of 2,380mm. The gross vehicle weight (GVW) will be 1,150 kg. Maruti will offer it in four broad trims: Std, LXi, VXi, and VXi+, with each variant getting an optional (O) sub-variant.

Powering the new Alto K10 will be the DualJet 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder K10C petrol engine that also drives Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Celerio. It makes 67PS of maximum power and 89Nm of peak torque, and can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). It also gets an idle start/stop system for optimum fuel economy. For reference, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio offers a fuel efficiency of up to 26.68kmpl. And since the Alto K10 weighs lesser than the Celerio, expect it to offer more mileage than its elder sibling.

Talking about its design, it seems largely inspired by the new Celerio, featuring curvy body panels and wraparound taillamps. However, it is unlikely to get alloy wheels.

Inside, it is expected to get 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, steering mounted audio & telephony controls, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, day/night IRVM and powered ORVMs. Its AMT variants could also receive Electronic Stability Program (ESP) along with Hill-Hold Assist.

Expect Maruti Suzuki to price the new Alto K10 from around Rs 4 lakh (ex-showroom).
