The Hyundai Tucson has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by Bharat NCAP in its recent rounds of crash tests. The Korean SUV has scored 30.84/32 points for adult occupant protection (AOP) and 41/49 points for child occupant protection, resulting in a full 5-star rating for both aspects. Here are more details on the crash test results: –
- Frontal offset deformable barrier test: 14.84/16 points – In the frontal impact, protection for all body parts of the front passenger, along with the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and tibias were rated as ‘good’, while protection to the chest and feet of the driver was rated ‘adequate’.
- Side deformable barrier test: 16/16 points – In the side deformable barrier and side pole impact tests, the driver’s entire body showed ‘good’ protection.
- For Child Occupant Protection (COP), Tucson received a perfect 24 out of 24 scores in the dynamic test using the child restraint systems. Both the 18-month and 3-year-old dummies received full marks, scoring 8 out of 8 for front protection and 4 out of 4 for side protection.
- In the Vehicle Assessment, it scored 5 out of 13.
